Normet’s Chairman, Aaro Cantell, won the 2008 Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year award in Finland.
The competition took place in Helsinki, Finland during the 6th and 7th November, and Cantell was also awarded the best growth entrepreneur of the year in the production category. Cantell will represent Finland in Monte Carlo next spring, where the international Ernst & Young World Entrepreneur of the Year competition will be held.
“Aaro Cantell has done a great job in delivering huge growth for Normet in the past few years”, Eero Lehti, the chairman of the judges comments. “During Cantell’s ownership in the last three years the company has nearly tripled its turnover. This has very much been the result of Cantell’s strong competence in business and finance, as well as a result of successful risk taking”, Lehti continues. “In addition Cantell actively takes part in Normet’s business, and has brought along some very innovative new processes to a conventional company”, Lehti concludes.
However, Aaro Cantell is not the only one to thank for this award. In his own speech Cantell thanked warmly Normet’s personnel for their positive attitude and dedication especially now during the period of fast growth and internationalisation. “Normet team deserves special thanks for their special commitment and great work efforts, without which this successful growth wouldn’t have been possible”, Cantell praises.
